Notes
Possible confusion with A. maculatum L., 1753, which has flowers with a purple tinted, pale green spathe and a purple spadix, and often has black spotted leaves, while A. italicum has flowers with a pale green spathe and a yellow spadix, and often has pale green veined leaves.
The following infraspecific taxa are accepted:
- A. italicum subsp. albispathum (Steven ex Ledeb.) Prime, 1978;
- A. italicum subsp. canariense (Webb & Berthel.) P.C.Boyce, 1993;
