Notes
The flowers are usually pale lilac, but this can be quite variable, with more pinkish or bluish colors. The morphology of the leaves is also variable, with either entire or divided with lanceolate segments.
Possible confusion with K. arvensis (L.) Coult., 1823, whose flowers have longer calyx teeth (≥ 1 mm), while those of K. integrifolia have shorter (≤ 0.5 mm) or absent calyx teeth.
Possible confusion with Scabiosa atropurpurea L., 1753, which has flower heads that become ovoid during fructification, and long bristle-like calyx teeth, while K. integrifolia has flat flower heads and short or absent calyx teeth.
The following infraspecific taxa are accepted:
- K. integrifolia subsp. integrifolia (L.) Bertol., 1835, P;
- K. integrifolia subsp. mimica (Borbás) Greuter, 1967;
- K. integrifolia subsp. urvillei (Coult.) Greuter, 1967.
