Notes

Possible confusion with S. palustris Ehrh. ex Hoffm., 1791, which has longer petals (6-14 mm) and sepals (5-7 mm), while S. graminea has shorter petals (4-8 mm) and sepals (3-6 mm). S. palustris is almost absent from the south of France and its population is declining elsewhere in the territory.

The following infraspecific taxa are accepted:

  • S. graminea var. chinensis (Regel) Maxim., 1889;
  • S. graminea var. graminea L., 1753, P;
  • S. graminea var. pilosula Maxim., 1889;
  • S. graminea var. viridescens Maxim., 1889.
