The following infraspecific taxa are accepted:

  • C. pulchellum subsp. grandiflorum (Batt.) Maire, 1934;
  • C. pulchellum subsp. pulchellum
    • var. caspicum (Fisch. ex Griseb.) R.R.Stewart, 1974;

Hybridizes with:

  • C. erythraea Rafn, 1800 to produce C. × jolivetinum (P.Fourn.) P.Fourn., 1938, P;
  • C. littorale (Turner) Gilmour, 1937 to produce C. × aschersonianum (Seemen) Hegi, 1927, P.
