Notes
Artificial hybrid of O. decorus (Boiss. & Balansa) Kasapligil, 1970 × O. delavayi Franch., 1886.
Possible confusion with O. decorus (Boiss. & Balansa) Kasapligil, 1970, whose leaves are not toothed.
Possible confusion with O. delavayi Franch., 1886, whose leaves are broader, have 5-10 teeth per side and barely visible secondary veins, while those of O. × burkwoodii are narrower, have 10-20 teeth per side and clearly visible secondary veins.
Possible confusion with O. fragrans (Thunb.) Lour., 1790, whose leaves have clearly visible tertiary and quaternary veins, giving them a reticulate pattern, while those of O. × burkwoodii have barely visible tertiary veins.
The teeth of the leaves can be difficult to see on some individuals. Using a small object or a finger nail to feel the teeh can help with identification.
Named after Arthur Burkwood (1888-1951) and Albert Burkwood (1890-1978), British horticulturists.
