Notes
Possible confusion with many species of the genus Epilobium. The white flowers later becoming pink, the club-shaped stigma, the branched stem, the inflorescences with 10 or more flowers, the opposite leaves, and the non-stoloniferous base allow for the identification of E. ciliatum.
The following infraspecific taxa are accepted:
- E. ciliatum subsp. ciliatum Raf., 1808, I;
- E. ciliatum subsp. glandulosum (Lehm.) Hoch & P.H.Raven, 1977;
- E. ciliatum subsp. watsonii (Barbey) Hoch & P.H.Raven, 1977.
