Possible confusion with O. corniculata L., 1753, which has green or purplish-green leaves with a petiole that is dilated at its base, while O. stricta, has green leaves with a non-dilated petiole.
Possible confusion with O. dillenii Jacq., 1794, which has leaves with a petiole that is dilated at its base and very hairy, gray-looking seed capsules.
