Possible confusion with many species of the genus Ranunculus. The sepals applied against the corolla, and the unfurrowed peduncle, glabrous or covered with small applied hairs, allow for the identification of R. acris.
The following infraspecific taxa are accepted:
- R. acris subsp. acris L., 1753, P;
- R. acris subsp. friesianus (Jord.) Syme, 1863, P;
- R. acris subsp. hultenii Vorosch., 1994.
Hybridizes with R. repens L., 1753 to produce R. × rohlenae Domin, 1935, P.
