Notes

Possible confusion with many species of the genus Ranunculus. The sepals applied against the corolla, the furrowed peduncle, and the trisected and poorly divided basal leaves allow for the identification of R. serpens.

Sometimes treated as a subspecies of R. polyanthemos L., 1753 under the name R. polyanthemos subsp. serpens (Schrank) Baltisb., 1988.
