Notes
Possible confusion with F. viridis Weston, 1771, which has flowers whose corolla is applied against the fruit after they have been fertilized, while F. vesca has flowers whose corolla remains open after they have been fertilized.

- F. vesca subsp. bracteata (A.Heller) Staudt, 1999;

Hybridizes with:
- F. moschata Duchesne, 1766 to produce F. × intermedia (Bach) Beck, 1892, M;
- F. viridis Duchesne, 1771 to produce F. × bifera (Sm.) Duchesne, P (het. syn. F. × hagenbachiana Láng ex W.D.J.Koch, 1846).
