Notes
Possible confusion with S. pentandra L., 1753, which has dark green, glossy, glabrous leaves, while S. alba has deep green, satin or matte, pubescent leaves.

Hybridizes with S. babylonica to produce S. × sepulcralis nothovar. sepulcralis Simonk., 1890: var. sepulcralis, P or S. × sepulcralis nothovar. chrysocoma (Dode) Meikle, 1985: var. vitellina, M (het. syn. S. × chrysocoma Dode, 1909).
