Notes
Possible confusion with B. japonica Hemsl., 1889, whose leaves have a cunnate or rounded base, and denticulate or dentate margins, while those of B. davidii Franch., 1888 have a narrowly cunnate base and entire or denticulate margins. Examining large leaves helps with determination.
Named after Armand David (1826-1900), a French catholic priest, zoologist and botanist, who discovered this species in Eastern Tibet in 1869.
