Possible confusion with V. canina L., 1753, whose flowers have a long yellowish spur.

Possible confusion with V. odorata L., 1753, which produces stolons, and whose flowers are usually darker, have a short spur the same color as the petals, and are scented.

Possible confusion with V. reichenbachiana Jord. ex Boreau, 1857, which produces stolons.

Possible confusion with V. riviniana Rchb., 1823, whose flowers are usually paler, and have a long white spur.
