Notes

Possible confusion with Pleurozium schreberi (Willd. ex Brid.) Mitt., 1869, which has reddish stems, and leaves lacking a point at their tip, while P. purum has green stems, and leaves with a short, recurved point at their tip.

Found on the soil in acidic grassland, as well as woodland.
