Possible confusion with P. interjectum Shivas, 1961, whose fronds are narrower (width/length ratio is usually ≥ ⅓ and ≤ ½), becoming narrower gradually at the tip.
Possible confusion with P. vulgare L., 1753, whose fronds are narrower (width/length ratio is usually ≤ ⅓), and whose pinnae are usually rounded.
Diploid (2n = 74).
Hybridizes with:
