Notes

Hybrid of P. cambricum L., 1753 × P. interjectum Shivas, 1961.

The individual below was found in a mixed population of P. cambricum and P. interjectum. It is larger than the surrounding individuals of P. interjectum (hybrid vigor). It exhibits a morphology intermediate between its parent species: the blade shape is close to that of P. interjectum, the pinnae are pointed and the fronds bear a long terminal segment like P. cambricum. The sporangia are beige.

An examination under a microscope revealed a majority of aborted, grayish spores of variable size, and sporangia with an annulus made of 6-8 cells, with 2-3 cells between the pedicel and the base of the annulus.

Tetraploid (2n = 148).
