Possible confusion with C. opulifolium Schrad. ex W.D.J.Koch & Ziz, 1814, whose lower cauline leaves are little or not trilobed and have a rounded apex, while those of C. album are strongly trilobed and have a triangular apex. C. album secondary stems also usually have an upright habit, while those of C. opulifolium have a spread habit.

Possible confusion with C. vulvaria L., 1753, whose leaves are all entire, while those of C. album are toothed, at least the lower ones. C. vulvaria leaves also emit a foul odor when crushed.
