Notes
Possible confusion with T. platyphyllos Scop., 1771, whose leaves have white hairs at the fork of the veins on their abaxial side, while those of T. cordata have reddish hairs.

- T. cordata subsp. nasczokinii (Stepanov) Shekhovts. & Kosterin, 2022;
- T. cordata subsp. sibirica (Bayer) Pigott, 2002.
Hybridizes with:

- T. platyphyllos Scop., 1771 to produce T. × europaea L., 1753, M;
