Notes

Hybrid of A. adiantum-nigrum L., 1753 × A. onopteris L., 1753. Triploid (2n = 216).

This hybrid is very common and occurs in mixed populations of A. adiantum-nigrum and A. onopteris (Prelli & Boudrie, 2024), and can sometimes be found in large numbers in the absence of A. onopteris (Tison & de Foucault, 2014). It can be recognized in the field by its large size, with fronds up to 60 cm, and its reddish sori. Searching for aborted spores is necessary to confirm the identification.
