Notes
Variety with a very leathery and glossy appearance, with the upper side of the pinnules punctuated by indentations corresponding to the position of the sori, with a rounded apex, and with asymetric basal pinnae, the basicopic ones being narrowly attached to the rachila and bearing large blunt teeth. Previously treated at subspecies level under the name D. affinis subsp. punctata Fraser-Jenk., 2007.
Hybridizes with D. filix-mas (L.) Schott, 1834 to produce D. × complexa nothovar. eschelmuelleri (Fraser-Jenk.) Fraser-Jenk. & Parris, 2021.
